IAIABC: Tell us about yourself and your professional role:

Lisa Anne Hurt-Forsythe: I have a multi-faceted background that is a combination of government affairs/law, business, and information technology.  From a WC perspective, I started my career working as an administrative hearing rep representing a large WC medical group in southern California for WC medical liens.  I then did a long, 15-year stint in IT before getting back into Comp in 2009 as consultant for York (now Segwick) and in 2011, I started working for Coventry/Enlyte in Government Affairs.  Just this year, in January of 2024, I took a promotion and a new role as the VP of Gov’t Affairs for the American Association of Payers, Administrators, and Networks (AAPAN).   Enlyte is one of AAPAN’s larger members

IAIABC: How did you first get involved with the IAIABC?

Lisa Anne: I have been attending IAIABC since 2012.  I started attending the Research and Standards (R&S) Committee meetings early on, since I had a keen interest in data (from my IT days) in addition to WC.  On and off, I have attended/been involved with a number of other IAIABC committees over the years, although I have always consistently been involved with R&S.

IAIABC: How has being involved in the IAIABC helped you in your career?

Lisa Anne: My involvement with IAIABC has been invaluable.  Not only have I been able to meet amazing colleagues (both with jurisdictions as well as industry), but I have learned a tremendous amount and been able to problem-solve and share information with folks who are at the tops of their respective fields/states.

IAIABC: What is one of your favorite IAIABC related memories?

Lisa Anne: Oh, wow it is hard to choose just one!!  I think from recent memory I would choose the Eclipse Viewing Event in Cincinnati earlier this year at the Forum.  I was very appreciative of the work the IAIABC staff put into making sure that the attendees could have a fun way to participate in a unique natural phenomenon.

IAIABC: What is your favorite book and why?

Lisa Anne: I love the book “The Phantom Tollbooth” by Norton Juster.  First read it in 4th grade when I got it at a book fair at school – have read it several more times over the years and there is more to it as you get older and understand metaphors, simile, sarcasm and puns.  Great messaging about appreciating what is right in front of you.

IAIABC: What is on your bucket list and why?

Lisa Anne: Diving the Great Barrier Reef and doing a safari in Africa, among other travels.  I’m already a certified PADI scuba diver so why would I NOT want to see the Barrier Reef, and a safari?  Come on – do I really need to explain why? 😊
