About The IAIABC Forum 2025

The focus of The Forum is collaboration. At The Forum, the IAIABC's committees and councils discuss policy and administrative issues in workers' compensation, and attendees may also take part in special seminars and workshops on hot industry topics and trends based on committee work.

Through the exchange of ideas, information, and strategies, attendees of The Forum learn from each other and develop relationships and networks they can use throughout their careers in the industry.

The IAIABC is one of the only places where regulators and private industry stakeholders sit at the same table in committee meetings and seminars, generating new ideas and strategies side by side.

Who Participates?

The Forum is attended by regulators, administrators, medical directors, claims administrators, medical providers, service providers, government affairs, administrative law judges, insurers, and other industry stakeholders.

You do not need to be an IAIABC committee member to attend and participate in The Forum. All are welcome!

Thank You Sponsors of The Forum 2025

Amateurism has long been the foundation of college athletics, but recent legal battles involving name image likeness (NIL) payments, college athletics revenue have questioned whether the student athlete is more akin to a college employee. The college athletics world anxiously awaits a decision by Federal Judge Claudia Wilken as she considers approval a $2.75 billion dollar class action settlement in House v. National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) $2.75 billion settlement that paves the way for future revenue sharing with players. In a recent related matter, On July 11, 2024, the Third Circuit Court in Johnson v. NCAA ruled that student-athletes are not automatically excluded from being classified as employees under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Another similar action before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) involving University of Southern California players resulted in the NLRB naming the NCAA and Pac-12 Conference as joint employers—potentially opening the door for NLRB jurisdictional reach beyond private university athletics. As these actions continue around the country, the NCAA must once again defend the student-athlete concept, a task becoming increasingly difficult. This leaves several critical questions looming, with one of the most pressing for the IAIABC being whether student-athletes will be entitled to workers' compensation. To explore these cases and their broader legal ramifications, a panel of experts from two of the Power 4 conferences—the Big Ten and Big 12—and Oklahoma State University will discuss potential impact on student-athletes, college athletics programs and the legal landscape across the country.
